Communities We Serve: Galena, Apple Canyon Lake, Lake Carroll & Southwest Wisconsin

The Galena Territory

The Galena Territory is a 6,800-acre planned resort community just southeast of historic downtown Galena. Homes here sit among wooded valleys, prairie, and protected greenspace, and the community earned a Community Wildlife Habitat designation from the National Wildlife Federation in 2010.

Ownership comes with access to roughly 1,900 acres of shared amenities managed by the Galena Territory Association. That includes 225-acre Lake Galena and its marina, about 24 miles of walking and hiking trails, the Shenandoah Riding Center, and the Owners' Club with indoor and outdoor pools and a fitness center. Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa sits at the center of the Territory, with golf just minutes from your door.

Galena

Galena is one of the Midwest's best-preserved 19th-century towns. Its brick Main Street, hillside neighborhoods, and the Galena River draw visitors year-round, while residents enjoy a walkable small town with restaurants, shops, and galleries close to home.

Homes in town range from restored historic residences and in-town cottages to newer homes on the edges of the city. Many sit within the historic district, which has its own design review for exterior changes.

Apple Canyon Lake

Apple Canyon Lake is a private recreational community in the hills near Apple River, Illinois, about 30 minutes from downtown Galena. Developed in 1969, it has about 2,743 home sites around a 440-acre lake built for fishing, swimming, and boating.

Owners share a full-service marina, a beach and swimming pool, a public 9-hole golf course, about 14 miles of trails, a campground, a fitness center, and a sports court complex. About a third of owners live here full time. The rest are weekend and seasonal residents, which gives the lake a relaxed, friendly pace.

Monroe

Monroe is the county seat of Green County and a city of about 10,700 people in Southwest Wisconsin. Life here centers on the historic Courthouse Square, where an 1891 Romanesque courthouse with a clock tower is ringed by local shops, restaurants, and businesses.

Monroe's Swiss heritage and cheesemaking roots run deep. Every other September, the Square hosts Green County Cheese Days, billed as the Midwest's oldest food festival and held downtown since 1914. Its parade is the only one in Wisconsin led by a herd of Brown Swiss cows.

Monroe gives buyers small-town living with everyday conveniences close by, and easy drives to Madison and to the Galena area.
